Antique Biedermeier Day & Night Austrian dormeuses with opal and garnet

Lovely Day & Night antique earrings from Austria.

The Day & Night design means the earrings are convertible jewelry. They feature a small decorative top section (the "Day" element) from which a larger, more ornate drop is suspended (the "Night" element).

They have a back-to-front closure or dormeuse (sleeper) mechanism.

The earrings also feature a flower-shaped decorative element with an opal cabochon and a surround of garnets.

Details:

The earrings are from Austria and were made during the Biedermeier era (1815-1848). They are not stamped and were sent for X-ray testing, please see the report in the last picture. They are made of 31% gold, 27% silver and 40% copper, hence the rose gold color.

Condition:

The earrings are in good antique condition, with some signs of age which are part of their charm. One of the opal cabochon has a little more wear than the other, please inspect the photos. All stones are securely set. The closing mechanism is in good working order and the earrings are ready to be worn.
