1876 Victorian Birmingham Silver Locket with fine engravings
Victorian locket from 1876.
Beautiful hand engravings at the front, depicting two buttercup flowers together with their stems. High level of intricate details. The flowers are framed with both repoussé and etched decorative elements. Little silver beads going all around. The back is plain aside from the maker mark and Birmingham assay marks.
Details:
The locket can be precisely dated thanks to the hallmark, anchor mark of Birmingham assay and letter b for year 1876. It is also stamped with the maker mark "J & F. S"
It is made of silver.
Condition:
It is in good antique condition, with signs of its great age. The front is well preserved with its beautiful engravings, the back has some dents. Three of the little silver beads around the frame are missing, please inspect the photos. This could be easily replaced if the new owner would wish so. The locket closes tightly with a snap. The bale is original, has a ding at the front and the lion hallmark at the back.
