Antique French Stick Pin in FIX with a Horseshoe

Lucky antique stick pin with a horseshoe.

The horseshoe features 7 stones, 7 also being a lucky number. We have three blue glass stones and four faux pearls.

Details:

The pin dates from the Edwardian era, 1910s. It is stamped FIX at the back, French hallmark for "or laminé", which is a high quality type of gold plating. FIX is a brand that was created in Paris in 1829 by François-Auguste Savard, and refers to a thick 18k gold plating. FIX platings are typically made of 20 to 40microns of 18k gold while nowadays only 3 to 5microns is enough for a jewel to qualify as gold plated. Jewels holding this stamp are therefore robust and meant to last, they often show very little wear, even after more than 100 years old !

Condition:

It is in very good antique condition with gentle surface wear and scratches.
